The sauna builds on the municipality's active winter bathing culture, and is an important measure for recreation, well-being and good health. Regular sauna bathing helps prevent stress and increase life expectancy.
A sustainable initiativ
The sauna is an example of sustainable local innovation. It is constructed from local and short-travel refined material, drifts without current and provides close contact with nature. The sauna inspires simple pleasures, slow pace and reasonable consumption.

How does the locking system work?After ordering, you will be sent a unique key code by e-mail. You use this code to open the Igloohome keybox 3 which is attached to the sauna door. Inside the key box you will find the key to the padlock.

I have placed an order, but have not received the code. What am I doing?First check your spam folder in case the email with the code has ended up there. If you can't find it, contact us through the chat on the website, and we'll send you a new code immediately.

Is the sauna warm when I arrive?No, the sauna is not hot when you arrive. Bjørkheim Sauna is primarily a self-serviced sauna - this is to keep the prices down. You have to light the fire yourself, and the time it takes to light the fire is included in the total time (2 hours). An important exception is "Private Sauna Group". Then you come to a pre-heated sauna.

Where is there a toilet?There are two public toilets at Teigavika bathing area, where Bjørkheim Sauna is located. One passes them on the way to the sauna.

Do I have to wash the sauna after use?In accordance with the rules of use, all users of the sauna are obliged to leave it in the same condition as they found it. We set out a spray bottle and squeegee - so one can quickly spray and wash over when one has used the sauna. It is also nice if you wipe water out of the main doors.

Korleis kan eg sjå om nokon allereie har booka ein "Sjølvbetent"?The "Sjølvbetent", self-serviced sessions, have 12 capacity (which is the sauna's maximum capacity) - so if the number of vacancies per session is lower than that, someone has booked. ATTENTION. an important exception: up to and including 31 December, there are only 4 people on sessions that are between 06:00 and 20:00 on weekdays, so then someone has booked if there are less than 4 available (but it can be some season ticket users there; an offering that will be phased out from 1 January).

What happens if I don't follow the rules of use?In accordance with the terms and conditions of sale and the rules of use, violations may result in termination of the agreement, exclusion, eviction and/or compensation claims. How can I reserve a time for sauna use?To book an appointment, go to our booking calendar on the front page of the website. Choose the time that suits you best and click on "Book". You will then be asked to fill in a form and complete the payment. After payment, you will receive a code and more information from us.

Is there a shower?No, there is no shower. A bather in the sea. Norway has some of the world's cleanest seawater.

Where can I park?There are free public parking spaces right next to Samnanger public library. It is only a 2-minute walk from the sauna.

What is the age limit for using Bjørkheim Sauna?The sauna is open to everyone who is 16 years or older. Persons under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
